The story sounds like a breakdown of a Police statement, it only gives the fact about what happened, and does not speculate about the reasons that the Penryn man got stabbed.

The story will be on going, as police investigations progress the newspaper will report on it. There is not too much a newspaper like the Falmouth Packet can write on such an incident, they have to only report the facts. The newspaper was unable t contact a family member of the victim so just got a quote from a neighbour. The neighbour did not actually know the victim and therefore could only comment on her surprise that something like this happened so close to her home.
The story is big news for a local paper. Penryn is a quiet town and not a great deal happens so the local people will want to be kept updated and that is the main task of the newspaper. Report news of interst to local people. The story is quite interesting and is reasonably well written, but it is clear the journalist did not have much information on the stabbing.
